Work in Person Event
Two weeks ago we had our very first in-person work event for SkillProfile, and I had so much fun connecting the with crew. It was a simple gathering—just three of our talented engineers, Aaron, Julie, and Robin with me (Kris) as a fledgling doing some SEO updates. All of us working from my house for two days straight. We were focused, energized, and driven to make progress on something big: building the SkillProfile for Employers solution. And 901 is still not ok 🙂
It was a refreshing change of pace from the usual remote work routine. There’s something special about sitting in the same room, bouncing ideas off each other, chatting and just getting to know each other better. For two days, we dived into brainstorming, helped each other out, made jokes, shared funny Youtube videos and along the way did a bunch of coding. We saw the pieces coming together in real-time, and it felt incredible.
Barbeque and Social Gathering

Of course, it wasn’t all work. After those two intense but productive days, we wrapped things up with a barbeque in the backyard. Our marketing person, BiPasha, joined in, along with my co-founder, Noah and his wife. It was a wonderful way to unwind, share a few laughs, and celebrate the work we’d done. We gave the team new SkillProfile sweatshirts and unveiled some of the marketing material we were preparing for an upcoming investor event. Good food, great company, and a sense of accomplishment—honestly, it doesn’t get much better than that.
This event reminded me of why I love building SkillProfile with this amazing team. It’s not just about the product; it’s about the people behind it, the collaboration, and the moments where we help each other to create something valuable. The SkillProfile for Employers solution is going to make a real difference, and I’m excited for what’s ahead.
We’re definitely planning more of these in-person events. This one showed me that the magic really happens when we take the time to connect, collaborate, and, well, have a little fun along the way.
